Sucholeska Clinic

Information for Foreign Patients
Strona główna Sucholeska Clinic

Our most important goal is the health and well-being of the patient.

The Sucholeska Clinic employs doctors, nurses, and medical staff who continually improve their qualifications and are dedicated to their work. Our primary goal is the health and well-being of our patients. We treat each case individually, striving to provide the most professional care possible. This is evidenced by the trust placed in us by patients not only in Suchy Las, but also in Poznań and the surrounding area.

Przychodnia Sucholeska has provided medical care since 1973.
In 1998, it became a non-public healthcare clinic, expanding its range of services to meet patient needs.

In 2013, we moved to Galeria Sucholeska (3rd floor, Suite 303), offering modern facilities and easy access.

We provide comprehensive medical care for patients from Suchy Las and nearby areas, focusing on quality, safety, and patient comfort.

Below you will find the most important information about using healthcare services at our clinic for patients who are not Polish citizens. The information is based on current regulations of the Polish Ministry of Health and the National Health Fund (NFZ) and applies to:

  • citizens of Ukraine,

  • citizens of EU/EFTA countries (holders of the EHIC card),

  • citizens of other countries.

You will also find practical information to help you use our medical services.

Citizens of Ukraine: Healthcare Rules in Poland

As of 30 September 2025, the rules for free healthcare for adult Ukrainian citizens (18+) staying in Poland under the special act have changed.

Adult Ukrainian patients are no longer entitled to free access to the following services financed by public funds:

  • spa treatment and health resort rehabilitation,

  • medicines provided under national health policy programmes,

  • planned medical rehabilitation (e.g. physiotherapy),

  • dental treatment under NFZ,

  • drug programmes and emergency access to drug technologies,

  • transplants of cells, tissues and organs (except continuation of treatment already started),

  • joint replacement surgery and cataract surgery,

  • reimbursed medicines, special dietary products and medical devices prescribed by a doctor,

  • reimbursed medical equipment and repairs (e.g. prostheses, wheelchairs, hearing aids).

These services are not publicly funded for adult Ukrainian refugees.

If treatment from the above list started before 30 September 2025, it may be completed free of charge despite the change in regulations.

All other healthcare services not listed above are still available to Ukrainian citizens on the same basis as insured persons in Poland.
This includes:

  • primary healthcare (GP),

  • specialist outpatient care (with referral if required),

  • hospital treatment in case of illness or accident,

  • life-saving services,

  • basic diagnostic tests.

Children and Adolescents from Ukraine (Under 18)

Children and adolescents under 18 years of age from Ukraine retain the right to full healthcare in Poland on the same basis as Polish children.

They are entitled to all healthcare services, including:

  • dental care,

  • rehabilitation,

  • reimbursed medicines,

except:

  • spa treatment,

  • medicines provided under national health policy programmes.

In practice, minors have almost the same rights as insured Polish children.

How to Use Medical Services (Ukraine)

At each visit, a Ukrainian patient must present:

  • a document confirming legal stay in Poland,

  • refugee status (e.g. passport with stamp or PESEL number with UKR status).

The clinic verifies eligibility for free services.
If the electronic system (eWUŚ) does not confirm eligibility, the patient will be asked to sign a declaration confirming the right to healthcare services.

The declaration form is available on site and includes explanations in Polish and Ukrainian.
After completing these formalities, medical services will be provided free of charge, subject to the limitations described above.

EU / EFTA Citizens: European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)

Citizens of EU and EFTA countries are entitled to necessary medical care during their stay in Poland, provided they are insured in their home country.

Free services are available only after presenting a valid EHIC card or a temporary replacement certificate.

Scope of EHIC Coverage:

  • medically necessary healthcare during a temporary stay,

  • visits to a general practitioner.

Important:
EHIC does not cover planned treatment in Poland (e.g. coming to Poland for a scheduled operation or therapy).

If you do not present your EHIC card before the visit, the clinic may charge you for the services.
You can later apply for reimbursement from your insurance institution in your home country.

Registration for EHIC Holders

To receive medical care, please report to reception with:

  • a valid identity document,

  • your EHIC card.

The registration staff will:

  • record your EHIC data,

  • scan the card for medical records,

  • ask you to sign a declaration confirming valid insurance in another EU country.

Please bring your EHIC card to every visit.
If the card expires during your stay, you must obtain a new card or a replacement certificate from your insurer.

Patients from Non-EU / Non-EFTA Countries

Healthcare rules depend on insurance status and international agreements.

Countries with bilateral agreements:

Poland has agreements on emergency medical care with the following countries:

  • Albania

  • Bosnia and Herzegovina

  • Montenegro

  • North Macedonia

  • Serbia

  • Tunisia

Citizens of these countries are entitled to free emergency medical care in case of sudden illness or accident during legal stay in Poland.

Other countries:

If you are not insured in Poland or the EU/EFTA and your country has no agreement with Poland, you may still receive medical care on a paid basis.

Before providing services, we will always inform you about:

  • expected costs,

  • available treatment options.

Appointment Registration

Visits are provided after prior registration.

You can register:

  • by phone,

  • in person at reception.

Please provide:

  • full name,

  • date of birth,

  • PESEL number (if available),

  • reason for the visit.

We try to offer the earliest possible appointment, especially in urgent cases.

Documents Required at Each Visit

Please bring:

  • a valid identity document (passport or ID card),

  • proof of insurance or entitlement (EHIC, insurance policy, refugee status document, administrative decision, etc.).

This will help speed up the registration process.

Language Support

Most of our staff speak Polish.
We also try to assist patients in:

  • English,

  • Ukrainian,

  • Russian.

If you do not speak Polish, please:

  • come with a trusted person who can translate, or

  • inform us in advance about the need for language assistance.

Clear communication is important for us, so please feel free to ask questions.

Referrals and Medical Culture

In the Polish public healthcare system:

  • most specialist visits require a referral from a GP,

  • diagnostic tests are ordered by a doctor.

Please arrive on time for your appointment.
If you cannot attend, inform us in advance by phone (option 2).

Bring all available medical documentation and test results.
We respect your dignity, privacy and cultural customs.

If you have any questions, our staff will be happy to help.
